endeavor:  when you are serious about doing something and try to do it.
example:  Even though it seems like an impossible endeavor, I plan on learning the meaning of any word that I come across that I don’t understand.

decay: to rot or break down so that it is ultimately not recognizable as it was when it was its best form.
example:  I forgot to throw the banana peel away in my lunchbox and when I opened it the next morning it had decayed so badly it wasn’t yellow anymore but black.
