The Face of

Fright

If I am startled or bump into something I don’t expect,

I react immediately not taking time to
reflect.

Just as I yell when I see a bug crawling on my arm,

Which is really no reason to sound an alarm.

When frightened, eyes open wide so you see much more,

Allowing you to
detect if being afraid is called for.

Mouth hangs
ajar so your voice can be heard

You want others to hear you and that’s not absurd.

Sometimes the best course of action is to run away.

But sometimes it’s better to face the
dismay.

Fright’s reaction is instant and when the coast is clear

Your frightened face will disappear!
